I have two storylines I’m contemplating for April’s Camp NaNoWriMo. I can’t decide which is more interesting to focus on. I would love your thoughts on these two ideas. Read the summaries over on my full blog and tell me what you think!

Hitting that writing wall again. What is it about November that I can’t finish NaNoWriMo?? I can do it in April no problem but November just dies around the 15th. I’m 10,000 words behind and there are 7 days left to write (including today). Doing the math, there’s about 3,000 words a day to successfully finish. Sigh…where the hell did my muse go?!

So very happy with the response my newest novel is getting from early readers this month. I’m seriously excited by this new concept. Now…if I could just WRITE. Not sure where the words have gone but they aren’t playing nice with me the past few days. The ideas are still here but they are coming out in gobbledygook when I attempt to put them to paper. I’ve erased more than I’ve kept the past couple attempts to keep writing. Not sure what’s going on…. 😦

Note to self: when you’re already tired but you need to write, don’t take the melatonin. The writing gets weird and the head gets heavy. Time to call it a night. Zzzzzzzz

I’ve written ZERO words since Tuesday. To make it up to today’s goal, I need to write over 6,000 words. Almost 8,000 if I put it off until tomorrow. Dammit. What happened to my muse?!

The last paragraph I wrote last night makes NO SENSE. It makes no sense in any chapter at any time with any of my characters. I have no idea where it came from or why I would have written it. So confused. I even made a note to myself at the end of it: “WTAF?? THIS MAKES NO SENSE! DON’T WRITE WHEN YOU’RE FREAKING EXHAUSTED!” Yeesh.

I wasn’t going to write tonight. I was just too tired. But when I crawled into bed, my characters SCREAMED at me! I was forced to turn on the laptop and start typing – fast. In 30 minutes I’ve laid out nearly 1,000 words and I still feel compelled to write, no matter how tired I am.

Writer Tip: Need to avoid the distraction of the internet while you write? Try NOT turning on the computer. That’s right – go old school and write long hand. If I really need to get a chapter done or I can’t find focus with the lure of the web, I close it ALL down, grab a notebook and write! If you REALLY need to be able to research while writing try a program like “Cold Turkey” or another that will allow you to block time-suck websites (I’m looking at you Facebook & Pinterest) for a specific amount of time.

Over 2400 words written today while I try to catch up – haven’t written since Thursday. 😦 However, I wrote one of the “stories within the story” today and feel more confident in the process. Also outlined all the complex connections between the intersecting timelines, which was getting confusing for me. Hoping I can make it all make sense for the reader now!

Got to chapter 9 and 9500 words. I need to better outline my six characters now before I can continue – they need to have similar mannerisms but distinct personalities. This could prove to be a small road block – biggest reason I wanted to get ahead in the count – almost a full day ahead.
